Founded in 1931, the Clay Ward Agency of Paris, Kentucky was formed with the sole purpose of providing equine insurance to the thoroughbred industry. Today, Clay Ward remains at the forefront of the international marketplace, designing insurance plans that cater to their client's individual needs.

Managed by Shack Parrish and Bruce Issacs for over two decades, Clay Ward has an experienced, professional staff that brings a wealth of working knowledge of the thoroughbred industry. In addition, their affiliates also serve breeders and owners of Quarter Horses and American Saddlebreds and offer liability protection for owners and trainers.

EquStem is the first commercial equine stem cell bank in the nation. We provide collection and storage of equine stem cells via umbilical cord blood. Stem cells are separated from blood and cryogenically frozen for use at a later date.

Injection of stem cells into the site of a ligament, tendon or joint injury in a horse may heal the animal and return it to full activity at a much higher rate than is currently capable by conventional medicine.

EquStem offers a full service program which includes the collection, processing and storage of your horse’s stem cells. The initial program is all inclusive and assures storage of the cells for the first 5 years. EquStem also offers additional storage programs for 10 and 15 years.

EquStem endeavors to provide our customers with the best service possible. If you have a unique situation, we will be happy to work with you to satisfy your needs.
