New York-bred Usha closed out her three-year-old season with an exclamation point: a grade 1 win. On Dec. 28, she captured the La Brea Stakes presented by Don Julio (G1) at Santa Anita Park for Michael E. Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman. Bred by Kristen and Matt Esler and Jeff Raine, she is the first grade 1 winner for the Eslers’ Thirty Year Farm, a few miles from Saratoga.
